We kept turning up short on play silks during play, so we decided to replenish our stock, and add some larger silks for fort building as well. We tweaked the process this time, and it resulted in some vibrantly dyed silks! Maggie and River are already quite busy making, moving and wearing their new silks!
For anyone interested in our "tweaked" instructions, it went like this...
Smaller Silks, 2 packets Kool Aid
Medium Silks, 3 packets Kool Aid
Large Silks, 6 packets Kool Aid
- Pre-washed silks
- Heated water in large stock pots until just before boiling
- Added Kool Aid and about 1/2 - 1 c. of vinegar to the water
- Stirred 1 washed silk in stock pot with Kool Aid and vinegar until the water in the pot was cloudy or only slightly colored
- Hand rinsed silks until water ran clear
- Hung to dry
