Eggs!

Our spring tree is blooming!!
We went all natural for dying this year...

This girl of mine... growing and maturing at an alarming rate every day.
She's just beautiful!

Mama got to play bunny this year and hide (and photograph) all our eggs!
We decided on our usual, and simple, egg hunt at home.

Surprisingly, River is quite the egg hunter.
"EGG!" (spotted from across the yard)

Magnolia's Total: 6 eggs
River's Total: 5 eggs
SUCCESS!

Bike Rider!

I probably can't post enough of these videos.
She was so persistent, at times frustrated, but she did it! And hearing her talk about how proud she was of herself....made my day!

Spring enough?

Time to decorate?
A few snipped branches covered in buds, some egg ornaments, and of course some Magnolia blooms, and we have ourselves a spring tree.

Like the sun shines in and out from behind the clouds, our bodies move indoors and outdoors over and over again.

Maggie and Tyler taking a quick moment indoors to draw some spring pictures.
Nothing like a good morning cuddle, with warm sunshine coming through the window, and a good book!
With warm sunshine to rain and snow, choosing that right spring outfit has been, well, quite tricky...

"Am I spring enough today Mommy?"

I guess I couldn't expect less enthusiasm, passion and joy over this season from a Magnolia...
And Little River is just his happy little self.
Happy Spring Friends!

"Forest of the Elements of Harmony"

Construction in the "forest of elements of harmony" under way

River decided that a train was needed

"The fairies, gnomes and their friends at the lake in the forest of elements of harmony"

Maggie decided that River's train needed to go through her forest

Working together on train maintenance

Back on track!

River loves...

  • Buses. If you know the tune well, you can hear him singing "The Wheels on the Bus" over and over again all day.
  • Cars and trucks. Specifically Mommy and Daddy's cars. He is always pointing them out, digging through his wooden cars for the matching Mommy and Daddy cars, and singing his own song..."Daaddeee.... (car goes) beep, beep, beep..."
  • His sister. "SISSY! SISSY!" I'm sure you've all heard it. If he can't see her, he's looking for her. If she's playing with someone else, he wants to play too. If she's asleep, he wants to wake her up.
  • Books. As soon as we mention reading, he's in his room piling up his "must reads." It's always a very big pile.
  • Cats, Dogs, Owls and Horses. If he's not carrying around his beloved stuffed kitty (Meow) or his stuffed horse (Neigh), then he's crawling around the floor telling us that he's either a "At! (cat)...Meeooowww." or "Daaa! (dog)...wwwoooo, wooo." And we just happen to have this incredibly social neighborhood owl that loves to say hello to us every evening....adding owls to his favorites list.
  • Singing. We listen to music for enjoyment, and use music throughout many of our daily routines and transitions. Music has a strong purpose for our family...it's one of our great joys. And now we have a one year old, singing his heart out!
  • Nature. No hesitation....worms, snakes, bugs, dirt, mud...he's in it, holding it, or chasing it.
  • Accessories. This one probably doesn't need much explanation;)
  • Reprimanding Boston. I've mentioned before that River doesn't quite have the loving relationship with Boston that Maggie has. To River....our dog is all work!

Uninterrupted Play

I love days where I can sit back, camera in hand, simply watching their play unfold. On these days I see, really see, what new skills have been mastered, and what's on it's way.
Yesterday was one of those days.
With the added perk of warm sunshine streaming through the windows!

Enjoy.

River's Style

I had to share these pictures Zac took of River the other day. This boy of ours...
He has created this very unique personal style, that just can't be topped.
Most days his outfit isn't complete without his glasses (the sunglasses he popped the lenses out of, yet keeps wearing), his wristbands (Sissy's hairbands), some gloves, his backpack, and of course, the tie-dye hat. And if that's not enough, you should see his excitement over shoes!
Not even two years old yet, and his need to be his own little person is so strong.
And quite the little person he has become...funky, silly, kind, determined, a little crazy/busy, and so very sweet.

Enjoy.
