Our dear friends Britt and Erik, along with their three boys are quite famous for coming up with some BIG ideas. Last year it was decided their youngest needed a parade in honor of his birthday...this year another parade just for fun, along with an elf exchange.
For the elf exchange families made donations of home goods and toys with which Britt and Erik used to set up a sort of store for children in their garage. The children then purchased items from the Elf Exchange store (with help from a personal shopper) for their family. After those gifts were chosen, volunteers were on hand to help with gift wrapping. I've never seen so many little faces glowing with enthusiasm and love in the act of giving. And speaking of giving...all proceeds went to a local charity.
Maggie was so excited for this, waiting all week with her saved up money in her purse to buy her loved ones gifts. I volunteered as a personal shopper, so of course I got to help my often shy little girl with her shopping.
She very carefully and thoughtfully picked out gifts for myself, Zac, River, Grandma Tara and Grandma Crist.
She has been giddy all day looking at those wrapped gifts, from her, under our tree. She keeps trying to give Zac and River "clues" about what she bought them...this is quite possibly the most exciting part of her holiday season so far.
And if all that wasn't exciting enough, Maggie also won "Best Tricked Out Bike" in the parade!
Happy Holidays Friends
That is so awesome!
