Amoo

When scheduling our trip to Boise it worked out perfectly that we would be in town for my grandmother's 81st birthday...we do like celebrating, especially someone as special as Amoo.

Magnolia of course said we needed, flowers, cake, and balloons. 

River provided the music, with a boisterous "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOOOO AMMOOOOOOO!" over and over again...all day.

My grandmother lives a quiet and simple life in retirement...tending to her flowers, reading, caring for my aunt's crazy pup, and every other day or so receiving a call from my littles filling her in on all their happenings big and small. 

I can't even imagine how action packed our arrival and stays with her must be. But knowing that my children get to have a relationship with their great-grandmother fills me with joy. She has supported me through absolutely everything. She will always be my role model, and now she will be theirs too. I know of no one else who has been a farm girl, a business professional, an amazing cook, an aromatherapist, a gardener, a sewer, a matriarch to a family of almost all women, and so much more.

After very busy days we happily arrived back at Amoo's house to just relax and spend time together. My grandmother exudes relaxation and peace...sometimes frequently, we need this.

My grandmother is a master with roses. It's like growing art.

Lavender
My grandmother believes that lavender is the cure-all for absolutely everything...from a scratch to a barking dog.

Her love of animals has modeled respect, dedication and compassion.

Magnolia and River spent about an hour making lavender/mint water...they too believe lavender cures all now.
More importantly, they take the time to appreciate all things beautiful and simple when they are with my grandmother. 

Grandma...Amoo....we love you! So, so much, and we are so happy we got to celebrate you on your birthday.
